2026 Tour de Proviso
The Village of Melrose Park is proud to host the Seventh Annual Tour de Proviso on Saturday, October 3, 2026. This free, family-friendly community bike ride brings residents and neighboring communities together for a morning of recreation, wellness and connection in Proviso Township.
Riders of varying ages and experience levels are invited to participate. The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Melrose Park Village Hall, 1000 N. 25th Avenue, and return to the same location following the route.
Originally started in 2020 by Mayor Katrina Thompson of Broadview as a way to foster wellness during the pandemic, the annual event is organized in partnership with Best of Proviso Township and has grown into a rotating, multi-community ride. Each year, a different municipality takes the lead in organizing the route and activities. Melrose Park is hosting Tour de Proviso for the first time and is looking forward to welcoming riders this fall.

- The Tour de Proviso is open to all riders ready to take on a 15-mile route. We recommend it for riders with some biking experience and a bit of stamina. Younger children may find this distance too demanding.
Register to Ride
Advance registration is required to participate in the 2026 Tour de Proviso. Registration will close at noon on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Riders are encouraged to register early and watch this page for additional event updates.
In addition to registration, all participants must complete the Tour De Proviso Participant Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release. Please email signed waivers to the Village of Melrose Park at gloria@mpcccd.org with the subject heading "Tour de Proviso Waiver form".
Rider Information
T-shirts
- T-Shirts – Only riders who registered prior to 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 14 are guaranteed to receive a 2026 Tour de Proviso event t-shirt. Riders who registered after the deadline above are not guaranteed a t-shirt. Those riders who register before the September 14th deadline can pick up their t-shirts on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:00AM till 4:00PM at the Melrose Park Chamber of Commerce, 900 N. 25th Avenue, Melrose Park, or at the rider check-in station on the day of the race.
What to Wear
- A properly fitted bicycle helmet. Helmets are required for all riders.
- Comfortable athletic clothing.
- Layers appropriate for October weather conditions.
- Sunscreen, sunglasses or other weather protection as needed.
What to Bring
- A bicycle or e-bike in safe working condition.
- Your own water bottle and an adequate supply of water.
- A form of identification and any personal medication you may need.
- A charged mobile phone for emergency communication.
Participants are responsible for making sure their bicycles are ready for the ride. Check tires, brakes, chain and other essential equipment before arriving.

The 2026 Tour de Proviso will begin and end at Melrose Park Village Hall. The route maps, participating communities, turn-by-turn information and estimated ride times will be posted on this page once the routes are finalized.

Volunteer
Volunteer for the 2026 Tour de Proviso. We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to help make the event a success. If you are interested in volunteering, please email info@mpcccd.org. Be sure to include your first and last name, phone number, adult T-shirt size, and role you would like to volunteer in from those listed below. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteer hours will be from 7:30AM until noon on the day of the event. Volunteers should check-in at the volunteer check-in table located in the rider staging area.
Volunteer Roles Include:
General
- Parking – There is limited designated parking available at the Melrose Park Village Hall/Civic Center, 1000 N. 25th Avenue, Melrose Park.
- Limited street parking is available on residential blocks near Village Hall.
- Participants are encouraged to bike, use public transportation, carpool or rideshare.
- Water – riders are encouraged to bring their own supply.
Explore Oak Park and Beyond
Explore Oak Park and Beyond is the state-certified convention and visitors bureau for Western Cook County, representing many of the participating communities, including the host village of Melrose Park. The organization of things to do in and around Oak Park and surrounding communities while here for Tour de Proviso.
Safety and Ride Support
The safety of riders, volunteers and the public is a priority. Local police departments and event personnel will assist riders along the route. Participants must obey traffic laws, remain with the designated ride group, follow all route markings and directions, and use caution at intersections and railroad crossings. Riders who experience a mechanical problem, become unable to continue or need assistance should notify the nearest police officer, route marshal or event volunteer.
