IL State Leadership Attends Melrose Park Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast

Illinois State Senate President Harmon and Illinois House Speaker Welch Discuss IL Tax Policy

Melrose Park, IL, 04.24.23 – The Melrose Park Chamber of Commerce and Community Development held its annual Legislative Breakfast on April 11, 2023, bringing together business leaders and elected officials to discuss important issues facing the local business community. Nearly 200 attendees participated, which featured a panel of elected officials including Illinois State Senate President Don Harmon and Illinois House Speaker, Emanuel “Chris” Welch, who discussed a range of topics including IL tax policy, workforce development, and infrastructure investment.

“Today’s breakfast was an important opportunity for our community to engage with elected officials and advocate for policies that will help our businesses thrive,” said Village of Melrose Park Mayor Ronald Serpico. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions of the panel, and to network with other business leaders in attendance. Executive Director of the Chamber, Isaac Bazbaz stated, “We were pleased to see such a strong turnout from both our members and our elected officials.”

The event also provided an opportunity for the Chamber to highlight its advocacy efforts on behalf of local businesses, and to showcase the benefits of Chamber membership. “The Village is committed to advocating for policies that will create a favorable business environment in Melrose Park, and to providing valuable resources and networking opportunities,” said Dr. Douglas Olson, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Business Development for the Village of Melrose Park.
